A register of 71 facilities across 21 provinces. Hole counts have been checked against public sources for 36 records; this is not a national golf census.

918holes supported by checked sources

A facility may contain several courses or open in phases. The register separates checked hole counts, planned capacity and specifications awaiting confirmation. Ocean Dunes in Phan Thiet is retained as a historical record following closure evidence; it is distinct from the course of the same name at FLC Quang Binh.

Golf tourism

Vietnam received 21.2 million international arrivals in 2025, 17.8% above 2019. Official statistics do not separate out golf travellers, so source markets are the closest proxy for demand.

South Korea stands out. With 8.7 million on-course golfers, it is the second-largest golf market in The R&A's system after Japan. In 2025 it sent 4.33 million visitors to Vietnam, level with 2019, and it was Vietnam's largest source market in both 2023 and 2024. Japan, the region's biggest golf market, remains 14.5% below its pre-pandemic level. Taiwan and the United States have both surpassed 2019.

Golf tourism is usually sized with two figures that differ several-fold, because they measure different things. The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism reported golf tourism revenue of US$600 million in 2022 and set a target of US$1 billion for 2025. IMARC Group measures a narrower scope, the golf tour services market: US$137.8 million in 2025, forecast to reach US$285.5 million by 2034, an 8.43% compound annual growth rate. The two cannot be plotted on the same axis.

On destination profile, World Golf Awards has named Vietnam Asia's Best Golf Destination nine years running (2017–2025) and the World's Best Golf Destination twice (2019 and 2021). In 2025 the Da Nang – Hoi An cluster was named Asia's Best Golf City.

Chapter 04

Manufacturing and exports

Beyond its role as a destination, Vietnam is a manufacturing link in the global golf equipment chain. Golf equipment exports reached US$404 million in 2023, 2.1 times the 2019 level.

According to UN Comtrade, Vietnam's exports across three golf product lines rose from US$188 million in 2019 to a peak of US$463 million in 2022, then fell 13% to US$404 million in 2023. The largest line is components and other golf equipment (HS 9506.39, which covers club heads, shafts and parts), at US$258 million. In that category Vietnam ranks third in the world, behind China and Hong Kong (China).

The United States is the main destination, taking 51.7% of component exports by value, followed by Japan (14.8%), the United Kingdom (11.4%) and Mexico (10.7%). Mexico was also the world's largest exporter of complete golf clubs in 2023. In complete clubs (HS 9506.31) and golf balls (HS 9506.32), Vietnam ranked sixth in the world in 2023, with US$100 million and US$45 million respectively. Ball exports have grown sevenfold from US$6.4 million in 2019.

Globally, Grand View Research puts the golf equipment market at US$8.5 billion in 2025, rising to US$13.1 billion by 2033, with Asia Pacific the fastest-growing region at 6.2% a year. On the consumption side, Statista estimates Vietnam's domestic golf equipment market at about US$600 million in 2024. That is a model-based estimate with no official statistic to check it against.

No. 27Nguyen Anh Minh: ranking reported in Aug 2026

The 2026 national system announced by the Vietnam Golf Association comprises 23 events: more than 10 professional events on the VGA Tour and VGA Development Tour, 7 amateur and 6 junior events. The Vietnam Masters, with a planned purse of more than VND 2 billion, is in its third year on the Asian Development Tour; the 2026 title went to Khavish Varadan of Malaysia. At the 10th National Sports Games, golf will be played in Ho Chi Minh City in November 2026 for four sets of medals: men's and women's individual, men's and women's team.

Individually, Nguyen Anh Minh was ranked 27th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) in August 2026, with a career high of 24th, and was part of the winning International team at the 2026 Arnold Palmer Cup. At the 2025 SEA Games, Vietnamese golfers took men's individual silver (Nguyen Anh Minh, 278, −10), women's individual bronze (Le Chuc An, 293) and men's team bronze.

Vietnam has no official count of golfers. The latest estimates were given at the conference “Sustainable development of Vietnam's golf industry” (Nha Trang, 27 November 2024): Vu Nguyen, Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA), said the country had more than 100,000 golfers in 2024, while Nguyen Nam Giang, founder of GolfEdit, put the figure at over 120,000. According to the September 2025 partnership announcement between the Vietnam Golf Association and the 54 platform, The R&A's Global Golf Participation Report 2024 recorded a 279% rise in registered golfers in Vietnam over 2023, with women making up 26%.

For global context, R&A-affiliated markets (excluding the United States and Mexico) counted 108 million golf participants of all kinds in 2024, including 26.2 million adults in Asia.

Policy and investment

Three changes that took effect in 2025–2026 reshape the environment for golf investment: a new special consumption tax, the 2025 Law on Investment and a 34-province map.

24%tax share in the worked example

Law No. 66/2025/QH15 took effect on 1 January 2026 and sets a 20% excise rate for golf business. The figure illustrates a service component subject to both 20% excise and 10% VAT. The pre-tax service value, statutory tax base and individual invoice items must be distinguished.

Law on Investment No. 143/2025/QH15 took effect on 1 March 2026. Project reviews require the full statute and applicable sector rules at the relevant date. The table is a reference list, not a substitute for project-specific legal review.

The directory uses the 34-province structure under Resolution 202/2025/QH15, effective 12 June 2025; reorganised local authorities began operating on 1 July 2025.

Looking ahead, the National Golf Foundation counts 51 golf projects in Vietnam in planning or under construction. Provincial master plans go much further: Quang Ninh has zoning for up to 22 courses, and the former Bac Giang province and Thanh Hoa 13 each. Experts quoted by VnExpress estimate Vietnam could have 400–500 courses by 2030. That figure is best read as the sum of zoning plans, not a forecast of supply that will actually be built.

Recent large projects include the Trump Organization's golf and resort complex in Hung Yen (a stated US$1.5 billion, broke ground on 21 May 2025); the course at Vinhomes Green Paradise, Can Gio, Tiger Woods Design's first in Asia; and Vinpearl Golf Léman in Cu Chi, which has opened in stages since October 2025.
