Tipping is a sensitive topic for many international golfers. In Vietnam, tipping your caddie is not just customary – it’s expected as part of the service experience. Here’s how to do it gracefully:

✅ Do I have to tip my caddie?

Yes – tipping is a standard in Vietnam. Caddies (mostly young, well-trained women) play a huge role in your round – from club selection to reading putts and keeping pace.

💵 How much should I tip?

  • 💰 Minimum tip (18 holes): 500,000 VND (~20 USD)
  • 💎 Exceptional service? Feel free to go higher (600,000 – 1,000,000 VND or more)
  • 🎁 It’s common to tip in cash, directly, with a thank-you gesture

🤝 How to hand the tip?

Give it personally to your caddie at the end of the round, with eye contact and a smile. Some clubs also provide envelopes at the counter if you prefer discretion.

🔒 What if I don’t speak Vietnamese?

Just say: “Cảm ơn nhiều!” (Thank you very much!) – and smile. They’ll appreciate the effort.

💡 Tipping well reflects your appreciation for great service – and helps support a hardworking local industry.
